Is Anybody There? Does Anybody Care? Does Anybody See What I See

“Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see?” I may be one of the most patriotic person any of you might know. I tend to keep it inside because the love of my country is so deeply ingrained into who I am. When I try to express myself, I start crying, then no one can understand a word I say. I love this country. My ancestors were here to fight in the battle for freedom. It’s in my genes!

The attached song from the movie version of the Broadway play, “1776”, written for our Bicentennial, is John Adams, wondering if anyone can see his vision of America.. As a movie, there are many historical inaccuracies. But it serves to show us how valiant these men were, how valiant all who fought in that original battle for freedom. In this song, Mr. Adams shares that vision. “Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see?” I stand with Mr. Adams. This song makes me cry every time I hear it. I do see. I do care. And I know there are others of you that can still see this vision.

Our country faces a crossroads. What happens in the next few days matters! There are many out there who disagree. You have that right. But I also have the right to see this country the way my forefathers saw it and fought for it. I love this country. Please, get out there and do something. Vote. Talk to your neighbors and friends. Volunteer! I an certainly a patriotic. People may laugh at how silly I might be, but I’ll never change. Voting matters. It counts. Even if there are those who doubt this, I will never change.

Is anybody there?
Does anybody care?
Does anybody see what I see?

They want to me to quit; they say
John, give up the fight
Still to England I say
Good night, forever, good night!
For I have crossed the Rubicon
Let the bridge be burned behind me
Come what may, come what may

The croakers all say we’ll rue the day
There’ll be hell to pay in fiery purgatory
Through all the gloom, through all the gloom
I see the rays of ravishing light and glory!

Is anybody there? Does anybody care?
Does anybody see what I see?

I see fireworks! I see the pagaent and
Pomp and parade
I hear the bells ringing out
I hear the cannons roar
I see Americans – all Americans
Free forever more

How quiet, how quiet the chamber is
How silent, how silent the chamber is

Is anybody there? Does anybody care?
Does anybody see what I see?”
From the musical, “1776”

Are you there? Do you care? Do you see what I see? Does anybody care? Is Anybody There?

You’re right, we may not agree on everything, but we have more in common than we differ. If we get back to our Constitutional republic, we can save this country for our children and grandchildren.
